I am currently working on CLLEARS: Chemistry: A Learning Lens for Energy and Resource Sustainability. This project is based on work done by students from American Canyon High School in the Biology & Chemistry classes. These Project Based Units use curriculum developed by Monterey Bay Aquarium, NASA: Energy from the Sun, NEED (National Energy Education Department) and the EEI (Environment Education Initiative), see this prezi for more information.
I have been teaching science by incorporating the EEI curriculum that I helped review in 2009.

My Family
I have five children.
My eldest daughter, Tyra, is a linguistic expert and loves history. We took a tour of Europe last summer to help prepare her for college level Spanish this year.
My son, Trond, is a junior in high school. He enjoys science and is quite the comedian. He also studies German and plays the saxophone.
My younger son, Terje, is an athlete, able to run the mile in less than 6 minutes. He will start high school this year.
My youngest daughter, Tara, is a gold belt in Kung Fu and helps me figure out new science experiments to try.
My youngest son, Thomas' favorite animal is linked on this website, Biology/Respiration & Digestion.
Chemistry in Action 2007-09
My first teaching experience was in Oakland. My students and I took monthly field trips to Crab Cove in Alameda. We tested the water chemistry to see if it varied significantly between the fall and spring months. This work laid the foundation for Oakland Tech's Green Academy which started in Fall '09.

Teaching abroad summers 2005 & 2006
While working on my teaching credential in 05-06, I decided to put some of my skills to work teaching English in Thailand during the summers. Since I was born there, I also got to revisit my childhood home.
